How to Transition from Swaddling

“How do I transition or wean my baby from a snug swaddle?” is a question we often hear.

We offer the best way to help baby sleep longer, safer, and better when you stop need to swaddling with arms fully restrained due to baby is showing signs of starting to roll over, or can roll over, and still has a strong Moro reflex.

Our Transitional Swaddle Sack® has a snug body and uniquely shaped, 1/2 length, arms up, sleeves with fold over mitten cuffs that may be worn open or closed.

Transitional Swaddle Sack

When the cuffs are closed the sleeves provide partial suppression of the Moro (Startle) reflex, and very importantly, if baby were to roll over, baby can use their arms to push up and get access to air.

Transitional Swaddle Sack

Our Transitional Swaddle Sack may be used from Day One under a Swaddle blanket, or a sleeping sack, or by itself.

Cuffs may be worn open so baby can self soothe or closed if concerned about facial scratches.

Transitional Swaddle Sack

It’s great for babies who prefer to sleep with their arms up, and it is recognized by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute as Hip Healthy.

Transitional Swaddle

The Transitional Swaddle Sack is a very important, patented innovation for babies who can roll over, but are not ready for a loose sleeping sack or who do not sleep well in a roomier wearable blanket.

The Transitional Swaddle Sack is the ideal Stage 2 Safe Sleepwear solution.

Transitional Swaddle Sack - Better Sleep and Safer Sleep. Easy to Use!

The Transitional Swaddle Sack bridges the gap between a snug classic swaddle and a loose sleeping sack.

It has a 2 way zipper and is easy to use.

Swaddle Review

The Transitional Swaddle Sack with Arms Up design supports multiple natural sleep positions and partially suppresses the Moro (Startle) Reflex while providing swaddle comfort and support.

The Easiest Way to Transition Baby from Swaddling

Breathable 100% Cotton Transitional Swaddle Sack

Kind words from an experienced nurse and mom whose been there, too: When first using the TSS, start with both cuffs closed and use with both cuffs closed until baby sleeps well like this, so baby experiences the security of the little sleeves keeping baby’s arms close to their body, and not full “flyout” (which will happen in a sleeveless sleep sack or with both cuffs open when a baby still has a strong startle reflex). If baby has been snugly swaddled in their first few months, it may take 7-10 days for baby to adjust to the partial suppression the TSS with both cuffs closed provides, compared to the prior classic snug swaddle. This is a transition time and an adjustment time. Baby may startle a bit and then they will feel they are contained and safe, and will learn to fall back to sleep (which is what we all do). If baby can roll over or is showing signs of starting to roll over it is important to begin the process of weaning them from the classic snug swaddle,.. and the Transitional Swaddle Sack is the easiest and safest way to do so.
